About

Vothumbnailweletics™ is the brain child of Jane Volden, a native of Park Ridge, Illinois. In 1976, Jane graduated from the University of Iowa with a specialization in reading and a degree in Elementary Education. During her career in the field of education, 23 years of experience resulted serving as an elementary school teacher and private reading tutor. From Jane’s professional experience, she became acutely aware of reading strategies that were successful.

Jane is working to make a difference in education. It is her strong conviction to ensure students receive consistent instruction which transfers to all involved with a child’s education, coupled with concrete tools for successful word decoding. Hence, her goal is to provide students with skills for lifelong reading and spelling. Her love of children and music meshed together to create the Voweletics™ reading method. This approach reaches students at a fundamental level where fun and true learning meet.

Jane was awarded an Illinois Challenge Grant by the Northwest Region Entrepreneurship Center to help provide capital in obtaining a patent for the Voweletics™ teaching method. She has appeared as a guest on the Paula Sands Show on KWQC-TV and talk-radio, WOC-1420 with Jim Fisher. Jane has been featured in a special entrepreneurial women’s edition, What Women Want. Jane and her work were described in the article “School Suppliers…Educators Become Inventors to Fill a Need in Elementary Classrooms” in the Quad City Magazine, January/February 2008 edition. The article traces the path of her career, as well as the development of her revolutionary reading program, Voweletics™.
